Warsaw artist Steve Creighton was awarded Best of Show for his still life painting “Studio Arrangement” at the Kokomo Art Association’s 89th Annual Spring Show on May 2 at the Kokomo Art Center.

Creighton’s work was entered in the Association’s Class I Professional Division, reserved for artists of two-dimensional artwork who have previously won either Best of Show or first place in the professional division of any KAA show. He has won Best of Show at Kokomo Art Association’s Spring Shows four of the past five years.

As an undergraduate, the artist majored in both art and business at Valparaiso University and continued his art education with graduate courses at Indiana University.

The Spring Show’s judge was Minda Douglas, assistant professor of fine arts and coordinator of the fine arts program within the department of humanities at Indiana University Kokomo. She teaches courses in printmaking, drawing, two-dimensional design, painting and art history. She exhibits her mixed media drawings, prints and installations locally, regionally and nationally and her work has won multiple top awards in juried exhibitions in Indiana and across the country.
